About Dr. Kate (she/they)
Dr. Kate Murphy received her Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling in 2008 from Johnson State College (now Northern Vermont University-Johnson) and subsequently has worked as a Master’s Level clinician since 2008 with adults, adolescents, children, and couples. In 2013, Dr. Kate returned to school to pursue her doctorate in Counseling and School Psychology from Rivier University, which she completed in 2017.
Dr. Kate’s dissertation research focused on the relationship between mindfulness, cravings, and severity of mental health symptoms due to her interest and experience working with individuals with substance abuse and severe and persistent mental illness. She also has additional research interests in disabilities, social justice, and school-based interventions for students with emotional difficulties.
She is an assistant professor at a local university while also continuing to serve the local community as a licensed psychologist. When not at work, Dr. Kate can be found spending time with her partner and dogs, hiking, traveling, or with family and friends.

Providing individual therapy to individuals 13+ via telehealth specializing in addiction, LGBTQ+, and mood disorders. Dr. Murphy is now also working with individuals with Selective Mutism!
